LIVE REPORTING. Several web-site traffic
analyzers promise accurate Web-site statistics, site-usage
summaries and marketing reports. What sets apart Deep Metrix's
LiveStats (besides a long name) is its claim to provide
real-time log analysis. Your customers can see what’s
happening on the company’s site right now, enabling an ISP,
Webmaster or site marketing staff to work with the most current
information.
MAKING TRACKS... LiveStats gets our nod for doing the expected
things well. It tracks which pages are hit most or least often,
finds out the most common entry or exit pages, and produces graphs
of the results. If your site uses extended logging, you can track
browser brand, operating system and where site visitors came from.
LiveStats supports servers configured in a round-robin fashion, as
well as virtual sites on a single server, and generates enough
informative reports to please the most fussy customer. Reports,
server-status alerts and warnings can be sent via e-mail.
Unlike most such tools, however, LiveStats also offers "watches."
A watch can monitor groups and individuals by an IP-address range,
so you can evaluate what pages employees are reading or follow a
competitor’s path through your site.
Other watches can track access at a specific site URL, or examine
click-through behavior to determine how often a link between two
pages is "used" especially useful for banner-ad tracking.
Plus, LiveStats does a mighty fine job at in-depth visitor
demographics. It looks up the origin of the IP addresses visiting
your customer’s site, showing you identity details even when a
site’s log files aren’t stored in an extended format.
LiveStats’ unique selling point, however, is that it’s live. The
program reads the log files every two minutes (a configurable
setting), then sorts and processes the log data on a per-site
basis. It shows who currently is accessing the site, at any given
moment.

How It Works

processing the data, and storing results in its compact SQL
database. Web analytics reports are generated on demand and
viewable anywhere on the web through the LiveStats web browser

site stickiness, merchandising, geographic segmentation and
marketing effectiveness, in absolute real-time.
