There is a lot of confusion in the media about Managed Security Services (MSS). Many different companies have many different service offerings, and they're all grouped under the general category of Managed Security Services (MSS). This results in confusion in the marketplace, as customers find it difficult to compare the offerings of one company with that of another.

MSS is a category that encompasses several different businesses. Giga Information Group has identified six different businesses that fit under the category of MSS:

1. On-site consulting. Customized assistance in assessments, policy development, security design, product integration, and forensics.
